From life and health to property and casualty, the agency expanded as community needs evolved. The agency expanded to a full-time operation, licenses were added, and the agency was formally incorporated in 1981. Growth came steadily, guided by practical decisions and a strong connection to the people of Southeast Missouri. Each chapter built upon the last, moving the story forward with purpose.

A second generation steps in.
When Randy Baker joined the agency after graduating from Southeast Missouri State University, the family story entered a new phase. Leadership evolved, responsibilities shifted, and the agency continued expanding its services. Over time, the team grew, reflecting both experience and continuity. Agency History
- 1966 – While operating the family grocery business, T. R. Baker obtained his Life and Health license and began offering insurance services on a part-time basis.
- 1968 – Mr. Baker earned his Property and Casualty license and, along with his wife Hazel, entered the insurance business on a full-time basis.
- 1980 – The Bakers’ son, Randy, graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and began his insurance career with the family business.
- 1981 – The T. R. Baker Agency was incorporated, and a Board of Directors was established:
T. R. Baker – Owner/President, Hazel Baker – Vice-President, and Randy Baker – Secretary/Treasurer - 1981 – Randy Baker obtained his real estate license, adding real estate services as a separate offering of the agency.
- 1984 – Randy Baker was named President of the T. R. Baker Agency, with T. R. Baker serving as Vice-President and Hazel Baker as Secretary/Treasurer. From 1984 forward, the agency continued to grow in business volume and the number of licensed agents across Property & Casualty and Life & Health lines.
- 2004 – Terry L. Baker joined the agency, leading to a realignment of the Board of Directors: T. R. Baker – Owner/CEO, Randy Baker – President, Terry Baker – Vice-President, and Hazel Baker – Secretary/Treasurer
- 2017 – Randy Baker and his brother, Terry Baker, initially co-owned the
agency. Randy Baker later acquired Terry Baker’s ownership interest,
resulting in a leadership transition in which Randy Baker became the
sole owner, Chief Executive Officer, and President. Myra Baker served
as Secretary and Treasurer. - 2023 – In 2023, Terry Baker formally retired from the agency.
- 2026 – The T. R. Baker Agency includes four employees, all of whom are
full-time producers and agents.
